Kürzlich ging eine Fotoserie durch die Medien, die absolut fasziniert: Die Dokumentation einer verlassenen und nie vollendeten Hotelanlage im Norden Taiwans, unweit der Hauptstadt Taipeh.
Wirklich viel Informationen ist über das Projekt nicht zu finden, nur soviel, daß ein Gummifabrikant die Anlage als zukunftsweisendes Urlaubs-Ressort in den 70er Jahren geplant hat. Im Laufe des Bauprozesses ging dieses Unternehmen dann bankrott, und erst Ende der 80er Jahre gab es einen Versuch der Reaktivierung - als 5-Stere Hotelanlage. Dieser blieb jedoch erfolglos, und so verfällt die Hotelanlage im feuchten Klima Taiwans…

Recently, a foto-docomentation got a lot of attention in media. Absolutely stunning pictures of a hotel resort in decay on the north coast of Taiwan, not far from the capital. In fact, there is not much information on the resort project available. What is know is that the project was initiated by a rubber factory owner in the 1970s. During the construction phase that company got bancrupt and the project was halted. In the late 1980s a second attempt to reanimate the project as a 5-star resort was undertaken, being stopped just a short time later. To date the ruins tumbledown in the humid Taiwanese climate…

The photographer identified a second ufo-house site just half an hour driving distance from the hotel resort in the Sanjhih district…

Nur eine halbe Stunde Autofahrt von der Hotelanlage im Sanjhih-Distrikt entfernt, hat der Photograph weitere UFO-Häuser entdeckt…

Fleißig wird im Obergeschoß gemauert. Zu großen Teilen sind jetzt Schlafzimmer, Bad und die zwei Kinderzimmer erkennbar. Und insbesondere der großzügige Familienflur im OG.

Industrious the upper floor walls have been layed. To a great degree the master bedroom, the bathroom and the two child rooms are visible. And in particular the spacious family corridor… 

On all corners and inbetween you can see the gaps for the concrete colums that will connect the circular beam with the floor slab.  A steel cage will be inserted and foam plates will provide the necessary insulation.

An allen Ecken und dazwischen sieht man die Lücken für die Betonstützen, welche den umlaufenden Ringanker mit der Geschoßdecke verbinden. Über die bereits in die Decke einbetonierte Anschlußbewehrung wird ein Stahlkäfig gestülpt und die Lücke nach außen hin mit einer Schaumplatte gedämmt.

Der Lichtschacht macht auch das Gästezimmer im Keller sehr hell und freundlich.

 Die zuvor erwähnte Krake hat den Aufbeton für die EG-Decke geliefert.

The before mentioned Kraken, poured the concrete for the groundfloor ceiling.

Ich hatte die Krake gereizt, woraufhin sich diese zu ihrer vollen Größe entfaltete …

I angered the Kraken and it unfurled to it’s full size.

In the end, everything was fine and was rewarded by a nice sunset.

Am Ende war alles in Ordnung und wurde mit einem schönen Sonnnenuntergang belohnt.

Nicht jedes Objekt, welches mit dem roten Punkt gekennzeichnet ist, ist gleich ein ausgezeichnetes Design-Objekt. Schließlich hat ihn jedes genehmigungsbedürftige Bauprojekt. Trotzdem kann man sich ja auch bei einem Hausprojekt zum Ziel setzten, eine durch den Red Dot Award auszeichnungswürdige Planung zu erstellen.

Not every object showing a red dot necessarily is an award winning design object. After all, every project that needs a building permit will hold it in Germany. The red dot must be easily visible displayed on site. It shows who is the client as well as the contractor and when and under which ID the project was permitted. Nonetheless, one can have the goal of developing a design that could be awarded with the Red Dot Award for good design - if only houses were permitted.

The last few days some smaller work was done that is not so exciting to fotograph. Like the installation of the basement light well. Another was the preparation of the formwork for the basement stairs. The steps had to be prepared as well as the steel reinforcement which connects to the basement floor, the basement ceiling plate as well as the supporting wall.

In den letzten Tagen wurden kleiner Arbeiten verrichtet, die man nicht sehr gut fotografieren kann. Wie das Setzen der Kellerlichtschächte; Zudem die Schalung für die Kellertreppe. Auf diese Schalung wurde dann die Bewehrung eingebracht, die mit der der KG-Bodenplatte und der KG-Decke als auch seitlich mit der Stützwand verbunden wird.

Und dann gab es noch Maschineneinsatz: Zum Verfüllen und Verdichten der Baugrube. Unglaublich wie die Erde und sogar das  ganze Haus schwingen.

And then there was machinery deployment. Necessary for the filling up of the excavation. Amazing how the ground as well as the entire house swings with the compactor.

And here is the work for the next day: That’s the steel that has to be added to the groundfloor-ceiling.
